Where are the best Saltwater Flats?

Determining which saltwater flats are the best is a challenge.  This determination can, of course, only be made by the person doing the deciding.  Opinions are like…well, suffice it to say that everyone has an opinion, and most of us have heard that old saying about them, but seriously, the only way to decide the best place to fish the saltwater flats is for each individual to get enough varied experience to decide for themselves, because the places in which you can fish the salt flats are as varied and different as are the anglers who fish them.

For your consideration, the Jardines De La Reina about seventy miles off the Cuban coastline is a wonderfully appealing spot at which to fish saltwater flats.  There are more than a hundred miles of saltwater flats here.  It is possible to catch over half a dozen species here, and the fish are not as spooky as they are in most places.  Another reason fishing the flats at Jardines De La Reina is appealing is the fact that you can walk for miles and fish while you wade.  Some say that it is also possible to fish over a hundred miles of flats without ever seeing another fisherman, so if solitude is your forte, so should the Jardines De La Reina be.

If you choose to fish the saltwater flats in the United States, one good suggestion would certainly be the saltwater flats on the Eastern Coast of Florida.  If you fish the Vero Beach, Mosquito Lagoon, or the flats off Clearwater, Tampa Bay, Tarpon Springs, and Homosassa, you are practically guaranteed fishing you will never forget.
