What’s your favorite of all the saltwater fishing knots?

Which knot you use for saltwater fishing really is important, but it is largely decided by factors such as the fish you are hoping to catch. Still, I can give you some ideas of good, all purpose knots for saltwater fishing which should help you. No matter what rod and reel you have, and no matter what kind of line you use, your set up is only as strong as the knot you tie, and tied properly, a fishing knot will keep about 90% of the strength of the line. It is important that you wet your line before tying, and saliva actually is the liquid that works best. Probably the most popular knots you can use to secure your lure to your line is the Rapala knot or the non slip mono loop. The Rapala loop will give your lure the ability to move more realistically in the water. The Rapala loop has one more step than the non slip mono loop, and it is a little more difficult to tie tightly, but you can do it if you practice. The Palomar knot is another knot that is used really often and fairly easy to execute. The Palomar is recommended for use with braided line too. It is often used for small terminal connections such as tying on hooks, artificial lures, and swivels. The Palomar knot is always rated the strongest knot by the Game and Fish Association. The Palomar uses a double wrap technique through the eye of hook that makes it especially strong.
