What is the most sought after saltwater fish?

You are considering a saltwater fishing trip and want to go after the most preyed upon fish in those waters.  The question is, which is the most sought after saltwater fish?

This is not a simple question, and the deciding factor would probably be where you are planning on fishing, but there are a few tried and true sport fish that have remained extremely popular to saltwater anglers worldwide.

One such fish is the Snook.  Snook are thrilling to catch no matter how many you have hooked in the past.  They are comparable to freshwater bass, if you are more familiar with freshwater fishing.  Snook range in size, but easily get up to four feet in length and fifty pounds.  In spite of their sleekness, they are extremely strong, fast, and tremendous fighters.  They are beyond comparison with any other fish of their size for sport fishing.  For these, and a host of other reasons such as their presence in such a diverse area of the world, the snook are one of the most popular saltwater species for which to fish in the world today.

Bonefish, found most often in salt water flats, are often called ‘gray ghosts’.  They are one of the most popular, if not the most popular, species amongst salt water fly fishing enthusiasts the world over.

Also among the most sought after game fish are spotted sea trout, redfish, and tarpon.

Regardless of what you select, there is no doubt that you will find great fishing by just heading out.  Saltwater fish come in all shapes and sizes to please everyone.
