What Can You Tell Me About The Snook?

What can you tell me about the Snook? I’ve heard they are really fun to catch!

If you have heard of Snook fishing, then you know that this is one of the best methods of fishing, if you learn the correct methods and uses for it.  Snook are really fun to catch!  The thing with snook is that, while they are biting well, you can have a wonderful time catching this appealing fish, but when the bite is off, it is often an exercise in futility.  The key to having a good time fishing for snook seems to involve a “plan B” for times when the bite is off.  Simply come prepared to fish another species, if you feel the snook are not biting!

Snook are fish of subtropical origins.  It is believed that they move with the weather changes to remain in waters with which they are comfortable.  The snooks ideal habitat is between 78 degrees Fahrenheit and 68 degrees Fahrenheit.  Anything very far from these marks, in either direction, makes the fish sluggish and lazy.  Any temperatures lower than about 58 degrees puts the snook seriously at risk, and mortality rates soar.  Any abrupt water temperature changes also put them at risk.  For this reason, snook migrate readily, and are in certain areas only at certain times of the year.  This bit of information makes fishing guides and old timers invaluable for those wanting to fish for snook, so ask for advice and help, and do your research before attempting to catch snook!

Plenty of people love this type of fishing and you likely will too.
