What are your favorite speckled trout fishing lures?

When it comes to catching Speckled Trout, nothing beats live bait, in my opinion, but there are so many advantages to lures that they are hard to resist, and if you know how to use them, they can sure bring the specs home for you. I like Sinking Mirrolures as long as you don’t use any line much heavier than about ten pound test, and you can hardly go wrong using a half ounce silver buddy shrimp underneath a float. If the specs are suspended, try a slip float. That way, you can cast your line, and still have your bait from five to ten feet below your float. If you try these and they are just not working for you, consider using a Live shrimp on a #1 Kahle hook under a Cajun Thunder kind of float. A Bass Assassin three inch paddle tail in an electric chicken color really brings the specs home. Screw tails work well too. You can just present them like a jig. Cast them, and use a slow retrieve, or you can use them under a Cajun Thunder float too. DOA shrimp will usually serve you well, and work well with the above mentioned floats. If all else fails, try a topwater. They can bring the specs home when all else fails!
