Three Deep Sea Fishing Secrets for the Pacific

Deep sea fishing in the Pacific can be one of the most exciting adventures you’ve ever encounter. If you enjoy the sport but not had the pleasure of fishing in this ocean, make plans to try it. You’re sure to find it has some of the best deep sea fishing opportunities you’ve ever come across. One reason the fishing is so great is due to the beautiful weather but that doesn’t mean that it won’t be filled with challenges.
One of the first things the angler must do before heading out on a deep sea fishing trip is check the weather forecast. This type of environment will be rough enough without encountering storms. You must also keep your eyes open and your two-way radio on. This way, you won’t be caught off guard if unexpected weather pops up. Pull in the rods, turn around and head home at the first sign of trouble.
If you’re not going out with a charter service, make sure your boat and equipment is up to standards and can handle the rough seas and the large species you’ll be catching. Special gear is needed to hook, reel in and get your catch into the boat. If you don’t have everything you need, you will run into problems.
Deep Sea Fishing Secrets
The more you know about deep sea fishing the better. This will give you a chance to get prepared for your fishing trip. Part of getting prepared includes having a plan and knowing a few good tips that can help you be more productive once you reach your destination. Deep sea fishing is difficult and unpredictable. You can benefit from all of the tips and secrets you learn about the water where you plan to fish and the species you’re seeking out.
Here are three deep sea fishing secrets to use when fishing in the Pacific:
1. Use circle hooks and J-hooks when deep sea fishing because these will hook in the corner of the mouth securing the fish better. With all the fighting they’ll be doing plus the rough environment, you’ll need all the help you can get reeling in these monsters.
2. Finding the fish is the hardest part when deep sea fishing but there are a few things that can help you find them faster. Look for birds hovering over the water feeding off the baitfish near the surface. The larger species will be seeking out the baitfish and very close by. Fishing around reefs can also be very productive.
3. Brush up on your knot tying because doing it correctly is more important when deep sea fishing due to the larger species. The knot that you tie can be the difference between getting that fish all the way up to the boat and watching it swim away.
Deep sea fishing in the Pacific is fun and exciting but it will be a challenge. You’ll need to make sure you have everything in order and that you’re completely ready for your trip.
Preparing for your Pacific Deep Sea Fishing Trip
Before you set out on your deep sea fishing trip, you will need to get prepared. If you don’t have everything you need when you take off, it will greatly hinder your success. If you go fishing with a charter service, you won’t have to worry about having the right equipment because they will provide everything you need but there are other ways for you to get prepared.
Start by making sure you have the right attitude. Be prepared to put forth a real effort and do your best. Stay optimistic even if you don’t get any bites right away. This type of fishing is very unpredictable. You need to stay focused on the big picture and have lots of patience. Some days you may not get any bites but when you do, it’ll certainly be worth the wait.
If there is anything special that you want to take with you on the fishing trip, get it together and packed the night before. This way, you won’t forget something important. Since you’ll be traveling so far out into the ocean, you don’t want to leave something you need behind because you can’t go back and get it. Don’t forget a few personal items to make the trip more pleasant such as, sunscreen, sunglasses, fishing hat and a raincoat. Dress in layers so you’ll be prepared for most any kind of weather you run into.
There will be times when your fishing line will get tangled up and you’ll need to cut it so you can start over. You can spend a lot of time and energy trying to cut the line. A better alternative is to burn the fishing line into instead of trying to cut it. This will make the process go much faster and it’ll be a lot easier on you. Once you’re fully prepared, you’ll be ready for your deep sea fishing trip in the Pacific.
