Is jigging a technique that works for White Perch fishing?

When planning to do some white perch fishing, it pays to know what will work the first time you head out.  Is Jigging an option?

If you remember that white perch are really bass, the question of whether jigging can bring in a catch of white perch is bound to produce an easier answer.  If you are fishing for white perch that are suspended, you might have a tough time.  They are quite difficult to catch, but if you use a jigging spoon, it can really bring in a good catch for you.  Now, when it comes to using a jigging spoon to catch suspended white perch, every angler seems to have a style or technique that works for them, and it will be best for you to develop your own technique, and once you hit on one that works for you, just use it.

If the bass are suspended, just drop the jig down below the fish, and let it hang for a minute, then raise the rod about two feet, let it drop a foot, and repeat this lift and drop motion.  Even if you feel just a little pressure, not a definitive hit, but set your line anyway, because it is difficult to tell if you have a bite when fishing for white perch.

Now, if you are fishing for white perch on the bottom,  use a jigging spoon, but determine if you re fishing over a lot of vegetation, be sure to use a weedless spoon for jigging.  There is no need to spend time and frustration on a hook that is tangled in obstructions.
