If you choose to fish Florida for Redfish, you should not overlook
Waccassasa Bay. Though it is not the most popular site for redfishing
in Florida, it is probably a better fishing location because of
that. There is only one boat ramp, there are some good sized rocks
around, and oyster shells form bars that can get you into propeller
trouble if you are not careful. Many fishermen just do not want
the added hassle of fishing here, and for that reason, the redfish
abound. If you are willing to take the extra precautions and go
to the added trouble of fishing this hard bottom location, chances
are you will maximize your catch by doing so.
If you want Florida saltwater fishing to really happen, take to
the locals and ask some questions. You are easily able to find
locations to fish, but can you find the prime locations where
fish are teaming? Or, can you find those hidden fishing holes
that are going to give you the largest catch? Always make at least
part of your experience in a new area talking with the locals.
There are many popular saltwater species in the state of Florida, and these are just a few, but should you choose to fish Florida, with these hints, a little planning, and some good luck, you are sure to catch a coup!
