Strategies For Saltwater Fishing From The Shore

The first and most obvious place to search for fish is around structures. Most all species seek the shelter these provide. The bass species are a prime example of this. They hide out around humps, ledges, drop-offs, rocks, brushes, grass and reefs.

The water temperature has to lot to do with the species of fish that can be caught. For instance, if you are fishing for cod fish or salmon then you will need to be in water that is between thirty and fifty degrees. This is where they flourish the best. However, if you are fishing for tarpon, then this species can thrive in waters that reach the mid eighties.

The fish species are also drawn to their food source so knowing which species eat different types of foods will help you locate where they are faster. Some fish are bottom feeders like the catfish. Anglers know that if they want to catch a cat they need to fish the bottom of the water. They are also located at different depths but the deeper you go they larger they get.

As you can see the more you know about a certain species of fish, the easier it will be for you to locate them when you are saltwater shore fishing. Learning their habits, the foods they eat and what types of conditions help them flourish will give you the information needed to be a great saltwater shore fisherman. Using the strategies listed above will help you get started faster and easier so you can begin reeling those fish.
