Bait is ever so important in a deep sea fishing trip. It's best to use
live bait. Use smaller fish like mullet, herring, and don't forget that
a lot of fish like to dine on crabs and shrimp. It is important to know
what kind of fish you are going to be fishing for before you hit the
bait and tackle shop and buy too much bait. Remember that this bait is
going to have to remain alive and well up until you drop into the
water. So packing a lot of bait in a container is a mistake.
Watch for some signs that will help you find the fish. If there are a
lot of seagulls flying around an area of water, you can bet there are
bait fish swimming around in there and the bigger fish who like to eat
them. The same is true for pelicans. If you see dolphins putting on a
show, you can almost guarantee that there will be yellowfin tuna
swimming along with them. Yellowfins like to hang out with the
dolphins!
The last but not least important tip for deep sea fishing is to make
sure you have a clear and concise weather report before you even hit
the water. Many fisherman who were inexperienced on the sea have lost
their lives to storms while deep sea fishing. Don't be a statistic. If
you don't know the signs of an approaching storm long before it gets to
you, don't go out without the aid of someone who does know the signs.
The skies could be blue and clear one moment and the next thing you
know you are being hurled around like a rubber ducky on the water! Take
special care to mind the weather when you go deeps sea fishing.
