Calypso fishing rods – pros, cons, when and how to use

Many people buy the Calypso fishing rods, but it really comes down to a personal decision. What is a good fit for one person isn’t necessarily the best for someone else. Some people have a vehicle where they can put a full rod and reel in the back and go. Others need a model that will break down into two pieces to fit into the trunk of their car. Evaluating your own needs will really help you to decide if this is the right brand for you. To help you though here are some pros and cons of the Calypso fishing rods.
Pros

If you are looking for an extremely affordable option, the Calypso model is one to consider. You will find them at many retailers and you can often get them for a price between $25 and $60.They are great for adults as well as for children. They also great for someone new to fishing or that won’t be able to go fishing very often.

There are plenty of models of the Calypso fishing rods to select from. Some of them are for fresh water and some are especially made for salt water fishing. They are offered in 6, 7, 8, or 9 foot lengths so you can select the one that is best for your fishing needs. They also offer spinning rods and one model is a heavy spin. Some of these fishing poles are one piece and many of them offer two pieces for your convenience.

The Calypso fishing rods are lightweight and that makes them very easy to carry around. They get good reviews for durability and the ease of use. They also have a 1 year warranty on them.

They are very simple to use and you don’t have to spend time making lots of adjustments to fish with a Calypso fishing rod. For someone that is a novice, something that is very simple to work with is just what they need. Then they can have great time fishing and not worry about all the small details. After they get the basics down, they can start to experiment more.

Cons

Not everyone is a fan of a cheaper fishing rod, and that is where Calypso can get pushed aside. Consumers often think that the more expensive something like this is, the better it is going to work. The low price can give consumers the indication that this fishing reel is cheap and that it won’t last.

Some individuals feel the design of the Calypso fishing rod makes it appear cheap and they worry that it won’t hold up to the elements. There are some reviews online about how this rod didn’t hold up well in the wind or to the types of fishing they tried to reel in. Yet there aren’t really any specifics offered that indicate where they were fishing or if the rod was being used correctly.

The fact that the Calypso fishing rods aren’t adjustable means you can use them one way only. This can make it tough when you want to change your methods for different types of fishing or to try out new techniques. This may not turn out to be the ideal fishing rod for all occasions based on that information.

Not all types of line will work in them, so you have to make sure the one you get works for the test of line you plan to use. It comes with decent test line, but if you want to use the Calypso rod to do something else where you need heavier fishing line then it may not be something you can do with ease for this particular fishing rod.
