Bait for Dock Fishing

Category: Uncategorized

What would be a good bait to use salt water fishing off a dock I was thinking power bait or somthing what would you use ?

There are several advantages to fishing off of a dock or a pier.  First, this is obviously the best alternative for those who do not own a boat.  Second, it is often easier to target fish when you are above them, which gives you a sort of height advantage.  Third, you will usually not have a problem finding the type of bait you need for your particular area.  Typically, the pier or dock is surrounded by shops that sell live bait.  The type of bait that is most frequently sold at the shop you visit may be a good indicator of what type of fish is commonly caught in the waters near the dock.  It is almost always preferable to fish from a dock or pier with live bait, instead of using dead cut bait.  You should try and obtain the type of small fish that is naturally sought out by whatever type of fish you are angling for.  One extremely popular live bait is the sardine.  Many types of gamefish will go for sardines, which are fairly common and easy to find.  Also, it’s a good idea to think about the size of the prey that your target normally feasts on.  Other popular live baits include varieties of pinfish, killifish, mutton minnows, and chubs.  Also, if you find a type of bait that is not always available, but works well for you, try and cast net baits to obtain extra bait, then you can freeze them during the winter for use the next season.
