Are there any sea fishing secrets that will work anywhere?

I have a few tips for your saltwater fishing trips that should help. If fishing from shore try using chum. The use of a chum block will greatly enhance your shore fishing possibilities by bringing the fish to your location. You can buy a wire chum cage for about ten dollars that will last you for many years. A frozen chum block generally sells for about five dollars at most bait and tackle shops. Tie a stringer to your chum cage and place the block of frozen chum inside the cage. Hang the cage over the side of the structure you are fishing from to allow the chum to melt and slowly release small particles of fish and blood matter into the water. This will attract the entire food chain to your position and greatly enhance your catch. Another secret is the type and color of line you are using. If you are fishing very shallow, four feet or less, depth you really should use clear fluorocarbon line. The invisibility factor of this line is much great than any form of monofilament line on the market. Many species of salt water fish are very wary and will spook at the first inkling of a presentation that is not natural. Fluorocarbon line will look more natural to the fish. When fishing deeper waters it is best to switch to a line colored red. Multiple studies have shown that red line is the most natural appearance when fishing water that is a bit deeper than six to eight feet.
