The earlier the fish feed in the morning, the more likely you will be to get a few good bites later in the day about dusk.
Try a pancake weight to cover more territory and let your rig move more naturally in the current. Bait with small shrimp, pieces of bloodworm, or squid. Be sure to pay some extra attention to the drop off where the waves break on the edge of the sand, and you are very likely to find sea mullet, pompano, spot, and flounder who have come up to find the bait fish that tend to congregate in these areas.
